Interview with Helen Kim – Money Relationship Mentor

Dear Helen,

Could you share with Womenandbiz.com’s readers about your background prior to becoming a Money Relationship Mentor?

Helen Kim

Helen Kim

From the age of nine until I began this work, I was in the performing arts. I was a performing cellist, worked and consulted for Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and was also an agent at one of the largest performing arts agencies where I put my own artists on the international stages. The rigorous discipline required to be a performer and the knowledge that a great performance is part practice, part inspiration and part innovation taught me some basic lessons about life and business.

What inspired you to become a Money Relationship Mentor?

My “financial awakening” came when I realized I had made the same amount of money for 10 years straight. Once I stopped making up excuses and dealt with the grief that came with facing that reality, I decided to seek ways to understand why I had created that situation in my life. Fast forward, based on my own experience and my insatiable appetite to understand what drives us to do what we do I now strive to help raise consciousness through the portal of money.

Why is it so important to know/have a relationship with money?

I believe money is the effect of the cause. Studying your relationship with money inevitably leads to the questions, “Who am I?”, “What do I want” and “What do I want to do with my life?” It’s crucial to know your answers or at the very least to search for them so you know why you are spending your time and energy to make the money.

Tell us about the services you provide.

I have a Call In radio show on Hay House Radio where I address different aspects of your relationship with money and have terrific guests whom I feel bring a special perspective to the way we relate to money. That has included everyone from Byron Katie and Julia Cameron to John Bradshaw.

I have a monthly group that meets where people receive 3 calls a month and a lot of accountability. I also train people who want to do this important work and help others gain financial clarity and befriend their money.

How have any outside advisors made a difference in your business?

Whenever I see a gap in my knowledge I look to find the most experience and knowledgeable person out.

You’ve started to host the show Conscious Wealth at Hay House Radio last month, how has the experience been for you?

Gosh, was it only last month?! Yes, well, it has been a terrific experience for me. Hay House is a top notch company and has allowed me a platform where I can spread my message.

Where can people go to listen to your show?

www.HayHouseRadio.com – The Call In show is Internet-based and occurs every Tuesday at 3 PM EST. The shows are archived on the site for 1 week and then after that, they go into Hay House’s paid archive.

What are your plans for the future?

Besides the radio show and the creation of books and other products, I am taking this work into larger media platforms and have been fortunate to meet wonderful people who are advising me.

Could you share how creativity has helped you to grow your business?

We are all the co-creators of our lives and therefore creative. Artists know they can’t take full credit for their art but serve as a messenger, delivering their art from a higher power. Without creativity there is no energy, no inspiration, no life to your personal life or your business!

What advice would you give an aspiring entrepreneur?

Trust your gut. Work with people who have a lot more experience than you. Ask for help. Using an example from my past life, when I was a cellist I always hired pianists who were far more experienced than I. It was one of the fastest ways to improve – fast! – and vaulted me to a higher level.
